Some crazy stuff is happening!
Since our official incorporation, a lot of neat things have transpired. The main thing being that now, instead of always promoting other people’s shows (which we still LOVE to do), we have started putting together some pretty cool shows of our own!
Rock ‘n’ Rhymes ’07 was definitely a first for the Chicagoland area. With a flood of amazing eclectic local and national talent and a great vibe, the event has now become an annual shindig! Performers included the city’s own Yea Big + Kid Static, Cold Water Mystic, Lyric District, Troy Leif Thompson, and Red Line District. Indiana’s own Tramp Stamp was also on the bill, along with the infamous DJ Rasta Root of Riddim Kidz, XM Radio, and A Tribe Called Quest management! A good time was had by all that attended, and our spots for next year’s event are already filling up!
Our Double Door lineup featuring The Steepwater Band, Bullet Called Life, Javelinas, and Troy Leif Thompson once again proved that Chicago bands can rock like no other! The rockabilly/blues/roots vibe that these artists put out is unexplainable…you know they did a good job when almost every person in the venue asked when they could see them all perform again! (And if you were one of those people…that answer is VERY SOON! Keep checking back here for updates…)
Hype Promotions, Inc. Presents Southside Summer Rockfest --- Venue’s Grand Opening Month Yields Fun for all on the Southside
The grand opening month of the Buzzbomb Club, sister club of Hillside’s Brauerhouse, continues with the venue’s inaugural Southside Summer Rockfest. The first year of the fest will feature one hundred percent local talent, a motorcycle and auto show, and various contests and raffles. The venue’s promoter has also partnered with Rock the Vote on the fest and there will be a combined effort to register new voters and update current voter information.
The event is all ages and will include numerous children’s activities as well as “The World’s Most Dangerous Comedian,” Mark Faje, as seen on the hit television show “America’s Got Talent.” The lineup for the day includes locals Javelinas, The Steepwater Band, Daphne Willis & Co. (recently signed with Vanguard Records), Michaelane, Hi-Fi and the Roadburners, Midwest Hype, Bullet Called Life, in addition to a slew of other bands (see attached flyer for full lineup).
The shows will kick off at 12noon on June 21st on the grounds of the Buzzbomb Club (6301 W 73rd Street, Bedford Park, IL 60638). The grounds will have restrooms, food and beverages and seating/shelter. Tickets are currently on sale online through venue ($8 presale / $10 day of show). Everyone is encouraged to come out to support local music, enjoy the beginning of summer, and get registered to vote in this year’s election.

HOLY MOLY...
Every year Hype Promotions, Inc. puts together a show in Chicago combining local and national acts ranging from rock to Hip Hop.
This year we have decided to take it to the next level and expand to other cities as well!
2008 welcomes Rock n Rhymes: Nashville, proudly presented by Rock the Vote, Nashville Scene & Hype Promotions, Inc.!
Be sure to take our poll and let us know who you want to headline Chicago's fest this year!

So -- why Rock The Vote? Not only is this the most important election that history has presented us with in a while...but here are just a couple other reasons!
Rock the Vote is a non-profit, non-partisan organization, founded in 1990 in response to a wave of attacks on freedom of speech and artistic expression.
Rock the Vote engages youth in the political process by incorporating the entertainment community and youth culture into its activities. From actors to musicians, comedians to athletes, Rock the Vote harnesses cutting-edge trends and pop culture to make political participation cool.
Rock the Vote mobilizes young people to create positive social and political change in their lives and communities. The goal of Rock the Vote’s media campaigns and street team activities is to increase youth voter turnout. Rock the Vote coordinates voter registration drives, get-out-the-vote events, and voter education efforts, all with the intention of ensuring that young people take advantage of their right to vote.
Rock the Vote’s work doesn’t end when the polls close. We empower young people to create change in their communities and take action on the issues they care about. Regardless of whether youth are signing petitions, running for office, contacting their elected officials, or taking up a sign in protest, they are all rocking the vote...
